Public Relations Officer (m/f/d)

We are seeking a dedicated Public Relations Officer (m/f/d).

Your Role & Responsibilities:

This job demands a dynamic and motivated individual with profound understanding of the nonprofit academic research sector and strong connections in politics, education media, and industry within Saxony. This person represents our institute in the press and events on a national and international stage. Specific tasks would include:

  • Develop and execute communication strategies, integrating traditional media, digital platforms, and internal outreach to align with institutional goals.
  • PR: Build and sustain relationships with media representatives, draft press releases and speeches, and prepare the institute for public engagements.
  • Advise and collaborate with researchers on outreach strategies related to cutting-edge research findings, craft suitable language for target media.
  • Create and oversee the publication of high-quality, audience-tailored content across multiple platforms.
  • Coordinate the institute's digital presence, including website content, social media platforms, and cross-media campaigns.
  • Anticipate potential issues, develop crisis communication plans, and ensure swift responses to protect the institute’s reputation.
  • Manage internal and external events calendars, with a focus on fostering outreach & understanding basic science.
  • Monitoring: Continually assess the impact of communication efforts and provide actionable insights for continuous improvement.

Your Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field or PhD in the Natural Sciences with relevant professional communications experience.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of best practices and proven expertise in public relations and digital communication, ideally in an international research or academic setting.
  • Established professional network within the political, media, and cultural landscapes of Saxony.
  • Bilingual professional proficiency in German and English.
  • Exceptional writing, presentation, and project management skills.
  • Familiarity with GDPR compliance and data security in communication contexts.
