Most areas of protein biochemistry are technically and topically covered in our facility. We have a broad experimental portfolio, ranging from molecular cloning to biophysical characterization of your target protein. Furthermore, we have hands-on experience with many different protein types, including intrinsically disordered proteins, membrane proteins, protein complexes, but also soluble proteins. Our protocols are directly available for internal users as templates in Labfolder.
Our services mainly focus on five areas: protein production, protein purification, protein characterization, protein detection, and the generation of nanobodies. Looking for something else? We’re dedicated to help you out. Simply reach out by mail or Rocketchat.
Choosing the right expression host - Generally speaking, proteins are produced best in expression hosts that are evolutionary close to their gene donor, e.g., proteins from eukaryotes tend to be best expressed in eukaryotic expression systems, such as SF9 and HEK293. An exception are small (<30 kDa) eukaryotic proteins or protein domains, which often allow expression in bacteria as well.
We offer the bacterial expression systems Escherichia coli, and Lactococcus lactis, plus SF9 insect cells, and HEK293 cells as eukaryotic expression systems.
Generating expression constructs – our large portfolio of expression vectors can be found on CART. Pre-cut plasmids ready for cloning can be requested in PPMS. Tailored construction of complex plasmid designs is offered as a full service.
