Parkinson's Disease is a degenerative disorder of the central nervous system: Neurons in the substantia nigra, a region of the midbrain, die - the reasons for this cell death are poorly understood. There are 7 million people with Parkinson's, 400,000 in Germany. How does the disease change a patient's life? What research approaches are going on to understand Parkinson's? What are current treatments and potential cures?
