SCIENCE CAFE: Personalized Medicine
GrooveStation Dresden (Katharinenstr. 11-13)
My genes, my cancer, my therapy - personalized medicine is a rapidly developing field, and it is a dream-come-true within our grasp: Molecular and genetic profiles of individual patients enable better prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Yet, what are the drawbacks, dangers, or ethical implications? Will only some fortunate ones be able to afford personalized medicine? And who will pocket the profit?
Experts available for discussion:
Robert Wieduwild, biologist, B-CUBE (TU Dresden)
Prof. Bernhard Irrgang, philosopher, TU Dresden
Andreas Schneider, health expert, Data Protection Commissioner Sachsen
A Science Café is a casual, informal event on science & society-related topics – with experts and the lay public on one level. There is no panel, but experts sit down with you and discuss your views, ideas, and questions.
