During this years’ ASCB | EMBO Annual Meeting from December 8-12 in San Diego, USA, Gaia Pigino, research group leader at the MPI-CBG, was awarded “The Keith R. Porter Fellow Award for Cell Biology 2018” by the Keith R. Porter Endowment for Cell Biology for her outstanding efforts to advance cell biology and her functional and structural studies of cilia. Next to Gaia, Laura Lackner from the Department of Molecular Biosciences at Northwestern received the award as well. The mission of the Keith R. Porter Endowment for Cell Biology is to promote education and communication in cell biology and thereby continuing the work done by the founder of the field, Keith R. Porter.
The Fellowship includes an award of up to 7000 US Dollar, which is intended to support a project related to the promotion of cell biology. An additional award provides 1000 US Dollars to enable the awardee to give one or more lectures about his/her work, or about cell biology more generally, to a high school or undergraduate audience.
